1. Scope and nature of this statement

SELKANO KANIEWSKI SP.J. is committed to making the golfactive.eu website and the Golf Active application accessible.

This statement is voluntary. We are not a public sector body, and the service does not fall within the categories listed in Annex I to Directive (EU) 2019/882 (European Accessibility Act). We apply the standard because we consider it part of product quality, not because we are required to.

Reference standard: WCAG 2.1 level AA and EN 301 549 v3.2.1.

3. What we provide

Operation without a mouse and without sight

• every map marker is a DOM element with a role and an aria-label, not a shape painted on a canvas — so it is exposed to screen readers and reachable by keyboard,
• interactive elements respond to Enter and Space; an open modal panel traps focus and Esc closes it,
• focus order follows the logical order of the content.

Touch and motor accessibility

• all touch targets are at least 44 × 44 px (WCAG 2.5.5, level AAA — above the required minimum),
• panels respect env(safe-area-inset-*), so they never hide behind system UI,
• no function requires a multi-point gesture or a drag without an alternative.

Vision and legibility

• two complete themes — light (designed for full sunlight) and dark — plus a system mode that follows the device setting,
• text and interface contrast meets WCAG 2.1 AA,
• distance figures use tabular-nums, so they do not jitter with every GPS update,
• icons are SVG using currentColor rather than emoji, so they look identical on every platform and adapt to the theme,
• scale-dependent generalisation: when zoomed out, markers reduce to dots so that 18 holes do not merge into an unreadable smear.

Motion

• all camera and panel animations respect the system prefers-reduced-motion setting,
• nothing flashes, pulses or moves automatically in a way that could trigger photosensitive seizures (WCAG 2.3.1),
• no carousels, no autoplay, no content that changes without user action.

Structure and language

• correct heading hierarchy, main, nav, header and footer landmarks, labelled navigation regions,
• the document language is declared in the markup and changes with the interface language,
• the interface is available in Polish and English, with further languages added alongside deployments in the relevant countries.

Independence of sense and context

• distances are given as numbers, not by colour or line weight alone,
• warnings about approximate data are conveyed as text, not by an icon alone,
• the app works in both portrait and landscape orientation.

4. Limitations, stated honestly

1. The map layer is drawn in WebGL. The terrain image itself (fairways, bunkers, shaping) is not available to a screen reader — it is a graphics canvas, not text. However, all the information derived from it is: distances to the front, middle and back of the green, distance to the pin, carry over hazards and the list of facilities are presented as text in the panel and read out by screen readers.
2. Navigation relies on the GPS receiver. For a blind player, reading out a distance does not substitute for orientation in the terrain — the app is an aid to play, not a guidance system for people with visual impairments.
3. Facility photographs supplied by clubs have alternative text written by us; in large galleries the descriptions can be generic ("clubhouse terrace overlooking the course") rather than detailed.
4. PDF documents handed to clubs at deployment (QR code artwork) are not fully tagged. On request we supply them as accessible HTML or plain text.

Limitations 1 and 2 follow from the nature of the service. Limitations 3 and 4 are fixable and are on our work list.

We respond within 14 days. If removing a barrier takes longer, we will say so within the same period, give a target date and, where possible, indicate another way to obtain the same information.

6. Escalation

As this statement is voluntary, the complaint route reserved for public sector bodies does not apply. Nevertheless:

• every report is handled under the complaints procedure in section 11 of the Terms of Use,
• anyone dissatisfied with the outcome may contact the consumer protection authority for their place of residence.

7. Alternative ways to obtain the information

We do not operate customer-facing premises — contact is by e-mail and post. On request we provide information by telephone at a time arranged by e-mail.

At a golf club using the application, the same distance information is available from the yardage markers on the course and from club staff — the app is not the only route to it.
